Tom Rakocevic chosen to be the NDP candidate in Humber River-Black Creek

TORONTO — New Democrats in Humber River-Black Creek have selected incumbent MPP Tom Rakocevic to be their NDP candidate in the 2022 provincial election. Rakocevic holds degrees in Education and Science and spent years in community service working as the Executive Assistant to local City Councillor Anthony Perruzza, before becoming MPP in 2018. Rakocevic currently serves as the Official Opposition critic for Transit, and is Vice-Chair of the Emergency Management Oversight Committee.

Quotes

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath
“Tom is a hard-working and vocal advocate for his community — fighting for more help to get people through the pandemic, more busses so they’re less crowded, and more investment in bright futures for youth in the community. Government after government has avoided investing in communities in the northwest corner, and those neighbourhoods have been hit disproportionately hard by COVID-19. New Democrats are focused on giving people more hope by continuing to put forward positive proposals, like paid sick days, raises for PSWs, and support for small businesses, which would help families and small businesses in the community, and with Tom as a part of an NDP government starting in 2022, I know Humber River-Black Creek’s days of being left behind will be over.”

Tom Rakocevic, NDP candidate for Humber River-Black Creek
“I’m honoured to accept the NDP nomination for Humber River-Black Creek, and I wouldn’t be here without the support of my community. For too long, our neighbourhoods have been an afterthought, short-changed and under-supported. We don’t have to go back to the Conservative government's cutting and squeezing after the pandemic. With Andrea Horwath’s New Democrats, we can finally have a government that invests in health care and education, works hard to fix long-term care and home care, ends auto insurance gouging and fights for consumer rights, and ensures our community will finally start seeing its fair share.”
